Well, Xellos here is actually an astral being, so physical attacks will actually do nothing against him, unless they come from someone who also exists on the astral plane, or a weapon which would hurt them on that plane. He is disguised in a human form and is perfectly happy with faking physical fraility however, so you can feel free to beat him around a bit, and he'll even bleed all pretty for you.
